about

Recorded in Hungary in December 2016, Paraszta Pé's newest CD explores the possibilities of the Transylvanian ütőgardon (a percussive cello) and the Hungarian tekerőlant (hurdy gurdy) for playing traditional forró, maracatu, and baião tunes from Northeastern Brazil.

The name of the band is a composite of the Hungarian paraszt (peasant) and the Portuguese arrasta pé (a fast dance), and represents our offer of a simple, rustic, and seductive musical experience.
